This work aims to propose an adaptation of the TECDOC 1151 to control the quality of the technologies employed in current services. Thus, despite being the most widespread in the area written in Portuguese and its importance in the orientation of professionals, a critical remark to the document suggests the need for an adaptation to the current moment. The Brazilian Ministry of Health has produced a translation / adaptation for free of charge to institutions and professionals.The writing of TECDOC 1151 was strongly inspired by publications of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), at the time of its elaboration, and was formatted as a manual for professionals with some experience, being an unfriendly document for students and beginning professionals.After two decades of technological evolution, legislation and changes in the characteristics of the national technological park, new recommendations appeared, but no other document was officially presented to replace TECDOC 1151 in Brazil.Updates in quality control procedures are important to monitor technological developments, and allow optimizing processes and the use of equipment, ensuring an adequate treatment to patients. It is a document with minimum recommendations for quality assurance in radiotherapy services that have the technical and human resources typical of this region. The TECDOC 1151, which addresses the physical aspects of quality assurance in radiotherapy, was presented in 2000 by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) due to the increase of radiotherapy units in Latin America.
